Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive in Arusha and transfer to your mid-range hotel. Meet your trekking representative for a briefing, equipment check and preparation for the Mount Meru climb.
Accommodation: Mid-range hotel in Arusha
Meals: Dinner, depending on arrival time
Day 2: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut
After breakfast, drive to Arusha National Park and complete the required registration. Begin your trek from Momella Gate, walking through forest and open landscapes where wildlife may be seen along the route. Continue to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Trekking time: Approximately 4–6 hours
Accommodation: Miriakamba Hut
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 3: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Continue climbing through mountain forest and heathland, enjoying changing vegetation and scenic views. Arrive at Saddle Hut, where you will rest and prepare for the summit attempt. A short acclimatisation walk toward Little Meru may be possible if conditions and your guide permit.
Trekking time: Approximately 3–5 hours, excluding any acclimatisation walk
Accommodation: Saddle Hut
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 4: Summit Attempt and Descent
Begin the summit attempt around midnight or according to your guide’s instructions. Trek toward Socialist Peak, the summit of Mount Meru, and enjoy the sunrise and panoramic views when weather permits. After the summit, descend to the designated hut and continue toward the park gate, depending on your pace and conditions. Transfer to Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
Trekking time: A long and demanding day, often around 10–14 hours or more depending on the route and conditions
Accommodation: Mid-range hotel in Arusha
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, subject to the final trekking schedule
Day 5: AFCON 2027 Match-Day Experience
After breakfast, transfer according to the confirmed AFCON 2027 match venue and schedule. Enjoy the atmosphere, passion and excitement of African football as you watch your selected match. After the game, continue to your hotel, airport or next destination as arranged.
Meals: Breakfast, subject to the accommodation arrangement
Important: This itinerary is a proposed concept. Mount Meru summit attempts are physically demanding and depend on weather, health, guide advice and park regulations. The official AFCON match date, stadium and host city must be confirmed. If the match is far from Arusha, the itinerary may require an additional night, flight or other transport arrangements.
