DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet your Kilimanjaro Classic Safaris representative and transfer to your mid-range hotel in Moshi. Attend a trek briefing, check your climbing equipment and prepare for your upcoming adventure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Machame Gate – Machame Camp
After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate for registration and begin your trek through the beautiful rainforest. Enjoy the rich vegetation and look out for wildlife along the trail as you gradually ascend to Machame Camp. Dinner and overnight in mountain tents.
Day 3: Machame Camp – Shira Camp
Continue climbing through the rainforest into the moorland zone, enjoying spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. Arrive at Shira Camp, where you will have dinner and overnight in mountain tents.
Day 4: Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Trek across the alpine desert towards Lava Tower to help your body acclimatize to the altitude. After lunch, descend towards Barranco Camp, passing the impressive volcanic landscapes and the famous Barranco Wall. Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.
Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
After breakfast, climb the spectacular Barranco Wall with the support of your mountain crew. Continue across beautiful ridges and valleys towards Karanga Camp. This stage offers incredible mountain scenery and valuable acclimatization time. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Continue ascending through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, rest and prepare your equipment for the challenging midnight ascent towards Uhuru Peak.
Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Begin the summit attempt around midnight, climbing towards Stella Point and onward to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres above sea level. Celebrate reaching the highest point in Africa before descending to Barafu Camp and continuing to Mweka Camp. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – AFCON 2027 Match Experience
Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate if eligible. After the trek, transfer towards the agreed location for the AFCON 2027 football experience, subject to the confirmed match schedule, venue and transfer arrangements.
Important: An AFCON match on the same day as the mountain descent may be difficult to coordinate, particularly if the match is far from Moshi. The match should ideally be scheduled on a separate day, which would make this a 9-day package.
